Marvin H. Anderson, Esq. - Retired

As a young teenager, Marvin H. ("Bud") Anderson was being educated in the field of law -- his father had him searching titles to real estate and helping to organize files for trials. He went on to graduate from McDonogh School in Baltimore County, and his academic excellence carried him to college and law school at Washington and Lee University. Upon completing his undergraduate and law degrees, he served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General. In 1959, after completing his military service, he joined his father, Marvin I. Anderson, in the firm established by the elder Anderson in 1927. During the 1960s, he served as the assistant county solicitor, elected States Attorney, and delegate to the General Assembly. During the 1970s, he served a term on the Board of Supervisors of the Anne Arundel County Soil Conservation District and as the President of the Anne Arundel County Bar Association. Over the years, he has provided community service through Baldwin Memorial United Methodist Church, the Severn Cross Roads Foundation, Davidsonville Ruritan, and the Grassland Foundation, With experience that has spanned more than 50 years, he has handled criminal prosecutions and defense, divorce and domestic relations cases, complex residential and commercial real estate sales, condemnations, estates, trusts, and business transactions. One would be hard pressed to drive five miles in any area of Anne Arundel County and not pass a property or business which his legal counsel has touched in one way or another. He has been a key part of the events that unfolded as the County's population grew from less than 200,000 to over 500,000 during the last half century. From that background, he brings a depth of knowledge, experience, and wisdom to his partners and informs all aspects of our practice. His passion for genealogy and historic preservation and general knowledge of local history has brought a unique flavor and understanding to many situations affecting our clients. The next generation of our firm has benefited greatly from his thoughtful mentoring in passing on his vast knowledge and experience. Mr. Anderson retired from the active practice of law as of September 1, 2013.
